Warren Robinson Obituary
Warren E. "Rob" Robinson, 92, of Sarasota, Florida passed away Saturday, August 9, 2025. He was the loving husband of Julia D. Robinson. Born May 11, 1933 in Philadelphia, he was a son to the late George A. and Ophelia E. Robinson. Warren (his friends knew him as Rob) was a Philly boy, born and bred. He attended Frankford High School in Philadelphia, where he was known for his sense of humor and his rebel spirit. He started his professional life working at Charles Reuter Realty – creating the marketing slogan "Stay on your Scooter 'til you reach Charles Reuter". He went on to launch his own successful business "Robinson Realty", building many community ties in a city that he loved. Rob moved to Florida in 1972 with his two young boys to start a new chapter in life, initially living in the Largo/ Clearwater area. He worked at J. Byrons Department store in the Sarasota/Bradenton area, working his way up from a sales position to eventually running the entire store. It was a position he took great pride in. Rob had a passion for golf. He was could be found hitting the links whenever time permitted. He taught his son, Steven, how to play and loved to play with his now deceased brother, Joseph. He organized golfing "crew" outings every week, forming deep cherished, friendships that lasted for decades. His athletic nature didn't stop there, for he also loved the sport of baseball and rooting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team. In later years, he continued to display his competitive spirit, diving into complicated jigsaw puzzles, with a single-minded obsession. He never met a puzzle he couldn't solve. He loved the beach, the sea, shrimping off the pier and tooling about in his boat. He often joked that, "his best day was getting a boat, his second best day was getting rid of it". For all who knew Warren, they would have enjoyed his quirky and dry sense of humor, and groaned at his favorite corny dad jokes. Along with his wife, he is survived by his sons, Robert W. Robinson (Frank Echols), Steven D. Robinson (Jennifer Robinson); and his grandchildren, Christie A. Robinson (Tim Miller) and Scott D. Robinson. He is predeceased by his brothers, George A. Robinson II, Joseph Robinson; and his sisters, Adeline Gaehring and Ida M. Meserole. Interment will be on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Warren's memory to the Tidewell Foundation, 3550 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34239 or the Humane Society of Sarasota County, 2331- 15th Street, Sarasota, FL 34237
