William Thomas Harbin Jr.

William Thomas "Tom" Harbin Jr., 86, of Lower Saucon Township, passed the morning of September 3, 2025. He was born in Savannah, Georgia on January 11, 1939, to the late William Thomas Harbin Sr, and Virginia (Frith) Harbin. His family moved to central New Jersey when he was an infant. Tom graduated from Westfield High, then studied at Ursinus College. After college Tom worked as an insurance adjuster and eventually started his own company, Harbin Adjustment Company, in Fairfield, New Jersey in 1980. Lloyds of London was one of Tom's main clients and in 1998 New Jersey Surplus Lines Association named him Honoree of the Year. Tom was a private pilot and an active member of AOPA. He purchased his Piper Cherokee in 1990 and was able to investigate and manage claims anywhere that he could fly. His 1969 Piper was featured as Piper of the Month in the December 2003 issue of Piper Owners Magazine. Starting in 2001 he tried to do at least one Angel Flight a month, providing free transportation for patients who needed medical care far from home. Tom had a full life and before he settled into insurance, he had many varied jobs ranging from being a stringer for Star Ledger, covering local sports, and working as a private detective. He was an avid reader and an active member of the Nevil Shute Book Club, attending conferences around the world. He was a wine collector and member of several wine appreciation groups. In addition to his loving wife of twelve years, Judi Roggie, he is survived by his two sons, William Thomas "Tom" Harbin III (wife Patricia), and Kenneth Scott Harbin (wife Laura and grandchildren Kaylin Harbin and Christopher Farley). He is preceded by his parents, younger siblings, Mary Harbin Sciascia and Joseph Harbin, and wife of thirty years Deborah Cooper Harbin.
