Alan Starensier Obituary
Alan Miller Starensier October 21, 1934 – [March 4, 2025] It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Miller Starensier, a man whose life was defined by an unwavering love for his family, a passion for his work, and a warmth that touched all who knew him. Born on October 21, 1934, in Haverhill, Massachusetts, to Sara and Abraham Starensier, Alan lived a life rich in purpose and devotion. He was predeceased by his siblings, Eleanor and Marvin Starensier, and Ruth Miller, and his cherished granddaughter, Hannah Miller Lee, whose loss left a void that never truly healed. Alan's education began at Governor Dummer, and his thirst for knowledge led him to Harvard, where he graduated in the Class of 1956. His love for learning continued throughout his life, as he earned an MBA from Northeastern Business School. Alan served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy, where he graduated from Officer Candidate School, embracing leadership with honor and duty (and his fare share of sea sickness). These early years shaped a man of integrity, kindness, and humility. Alan's life was built on love and family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Margie Riner Starensier, his soulmate and partner in both business and life. There love was deep, unconditional and fierce. They were the perfect ying to the other's yang. Alan was a devoted father to his daughter, Amy Starensier Lee (and her husband, J. Richard), and his son, David (and his wife, Phyllis). He was the proud grandfather of six beautiful grandchildren: Hannah, Alexandra, Josie, and Charlie Lee, and Zoe and Zack Starensier, each of whom brought him immense joy. Alan's legacy will live on through them - his love, wisdom, and boundless generosity forever etched in their hearts. Alan's professional journey began in the shoe business, but it was his true passion - working alongside Margie in the boutique women's clothing industry - that brought him the greatest fulfillment. For nearly 35 years, they under the moniker of Co-Star Sales traveled up and down the East Coast, representing clothing lines they loved, forging friendships that lasted a lifetime. They were more than business partners; they were a dynamic duo, and their customers adored them. Alan's warmth, charm, and genuine love for people made him not just a colleague, but a friend to so many. Beyond his work, Alan had a zest for life that was simply infectious. He was a die-hard sports fan, passionately following the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics,
always ready for the next game. He loved traveling, skiing, playing tennis and golf with equal enthusiasm, always seeking new experiences and adventures. Alan's love for music - particularly classical and Broadway shows - brought him great joy, and he shared that passion with those around him. But above all, Alan had a heart of gold. He was known for his effortless charm, his ever-present smile, and his genuine kindness. Always dapper, often seen in his signature wide-brimmed hat, Alan was the kind of person who could light up a room with his presence. He never complained, even in the toughest times, and his love for his family was unparalleled. For Alan, family came first, and everything else - work, hobbies, and passions - took a backseat to the people he loved most. Alan's life was one of grace, kindness, and love, and his absence leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him. Alan Miller Starensier will always be remembered as the quintessential gentle man. He led by example, with humility and a full and big heart. May his memory always be a blessing. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Alan, please visit our Tree Store.
