Angela Quinones Obituary

Angela Quiñones, 63, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Saturday, July 12, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on September 16, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Bonifacio Matos and Tomasa Cordero. Angela grew up in Chicago and moved to Puerto Rico at the age of 15, later settling in Meriden, Connecticut, in 1989. When she was younger, she loved to play softball and dreamed of playing basketball, though she was only 4'11". Angela had a vibrant personality, a sharp sense of humor, bold sass, and unwavering resilience. She was truly a warrior in every sense of the word. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored and spoiled endlessly. Known affectionately as Emma, Bichy, or Gigi, Angela was a nurturing grandmother not only to her own grandchildren but to every child she met, who were naturally drawn to her warmth and kindness. She was fiercely protective of her children and family, leaving her mark on all who knew her. Angela had a deep love for the color purple, birds, and collecting elephant and sailboat memorabilia. She enjoyed driving two-door Jeeps, blasting loud music, and maintaining an impeccably clean home. Her magnetic spirit and generous heart made her a cherished mother, sister, aunt, friend, and grandmother to all. Angela is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Carrero, and her husband, Alex and Tania Canelas and husband Jose; her son, Anthony Cordero and his wife, Monica Gonzalez; her four grandchildren, Angela, Marcial, Damien, Saige, and LaLa; her three step-grandchildren, Jeyline, Neli, and Alex; her seven great-grandchildren; her good friend Milly, and her seven siblings Gloria, Leonor, Carmen, Edwin, Patricia, Antonio and Alex. Aside from her parents she is predeceased by her three great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Angela will be held privately with her family. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Angela, please visit our Tree Store.
