Angela Sgro

Angela "Lina" Sgro, 86, of New Britain, widow of Antonio Sgro, who died May 3, 2020, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 10, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born January 24, 1939 in Sortino, Sicily, Italy a daughter of the late Sebastian and Sofia (Gigliuto) Cavarra. Angela was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, known for her compassionate heart and unwavering dedication to her family. She was a natural caregiver, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, and her kindness touched the lives of many. A talented seamstress, Angela had a remarkable eye for detail and creativity. She also worked as a skilled solderer at Selectro in New Britain for over ten years, where her dedication and precision were highly respected. Angela was a woman of deep faith and a longtime parishioner of St. Ann's Church, where she found comfort, community, and strength. Her gentle spirit, generosity, and warm presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind her children, Frank Sgro, Anthony Sgro and his wife Paola and Barbara Sgro all of New Britain; her two beloved grandchildren, Gabriella and Joseph Sgro; her sister, Enza Marletta and her husband Sal; a brother, Biagio Cavarra and his wife Sarina; sister-in-law, Lina Magisano and the late Giuseppe Magisano, and there daughter Concetta Adams; She also leaves many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday (April 16th, 2025) 11:00 AM at St. Ann Church of St Joachim Parish, 101 North St. New Britain. Committal service and final resting place will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley St. New Britain.
