Audrey Battista Obituary

WINSTED – Audrey Rose (Stilson) Battista, 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2025 at her home. She was the loving wife of Rocco Leonard Battista for 67 years. Born June 10, 1935 in New Haven; the daughter of the late Edward and Katheryn (Lovelace) Stilson Cuatt. Audrey attended Catholic schools in the New Haven area and was a 1956 graduate of the Hospital of St. Raphael School of Nursing. She served as a Registered Nurse for Saint Raphael Hospital in New Haven until the children started to arrive. As her children grew older, she returned to the field of nursing. She worked for many years at Highland Acres Nursing Home and the Foothills Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice in Winsted. She was a devout Catholic, had a deep love of her faith and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church for 56 years. She and her husband raised their six children on the family farm in Winchester Center. Audrey was an expert baker, she enjoyed knitting, and she was always up for entertaining the extensive number of family and friends that visited the farm. Most of all, she enjoyed Sunday dinners with her children and grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Rocco, she is survived by her beloved children, David Battista (Siobhan), Chris Battista (Donna), Mary Johnson (Ralph), Claire Calabretta (Fred), Margaret Teardo (Thomas ) and Barbara Silverio (David); cherished grandchildren, Danielle Battista, Allison Battista, Benjamin Battista, Nicholas Battista, Jessica Battista, Jacob Battista, Jacqueline Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, James Teardo, Grace Teardo, Melanie Teardo, Joshua Silverio and Rochelle Silverio; great grandchildren, Sedona Silverio, Rocco Silverio, Angelina Ciotti and Clara McCarron; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Stilson. Friends may call on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 2 – 4 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025 at St. Joseph Church, Winsted at 10 AM. Burial to follow at Winchester Center Cemetery. Yesterday

Barbara and family, thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Absolutely loved your Mom, she was a very special person, so kind. I have many early fond memories of her on the farm and out and about. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life so loved, cherished and well lived.

So very sorry to hear. I had the pleasure of teaching in the religious education program at St. Joseph's with Audrey, in addition to her teaching some of my children in that program. I also worked with her son David. Our sincere condolences to the family. Alicia DeLibro-Concannon & George Concannon
