Beresford Wilson Obituary

BERESFORD SAMUEL WILSON JR. - a son, a brother, a father, an advocate, a legend - On July 4th, 2025 at 9:58pm, Beresford Samuel Wilson Jr, was declared deceased after a sudden heart attack in his home. Born and raised in Hartford, CT - Beresford Samuel Wilson Jr. was more than a son, a brother, a father, and a coach. He was a fierce advocate for young people and an enforcer of unconditional love and righteousness. He understood and saw the world in a way many people couldn't and anyone gifted with the chance to converse with him knew this. He was our rock, our foundation. He was everything and anything we needed him to be and spent his life doing as much as he could for his community and his family. Beresford attended Hartford High School where he was well known for his talent in football and basketball. He went on to go to Virginia Union on a football scholarship where he also majored in Theology. About two years into his college career, Beresford decided to join the army where he played basketball in Germany and was a skilled marksman. Returning to Hartford after his discharge, he became a children's advocate after his first child was born prematurely. He became a lead advocate, youth and family engagement specialist for AFCAMP for 16 years working with his co-founder, Merva Jackson. He served on numerous boards and commissions where he continued advocating for at-risk youth. During that time he also participated as a coach for basketball and football in Windsor and Hartford. He then began his career at FAVOR, Inc working his way to Executive Director where he retired in 2023. His contributions and advocacy for differently abled and at risk youth will never go unnoticed. He is survived by his children: Christ Wilson, Jared Wilson-Frame, Cheyenne Wilson, Solomon Wilson-Frame, Madyson Wilson-Frame, Beresford Wilson III, and Xophia Wilson. He is also survived by the mothers of his children: Germaine Coachman, Peaches Grant, Angela Frame, and Patricia Joyce. His grandchildren include Cree Wilson, Sienna Wilson, Savannah Wilson, Dean'a Hooten, and Ben Hooten. He leaves behind his siblings: Wilbur Wilson, Vaughn Wilson, Susan Wilson, and Emerson Wilson. In addition, he is survived by his stepchildren Qianna Coachman-Strickland and Milon Coachman, step-grandchildren Tyrus Weaver and Soleil Coachman, and step great-grandchildren Alex Weaver and Alayah Weaver. So yes, he indeed has left a massive legacy here and has now gone to rest with the legacy he had before him with his parents Claire Wilson and Beresford Wilson Sr, and his son, Xire Wilson. Beresford will be sincerely missed by so many people - his family and community alike. Beyond leaving behind this amazing group of people he called his family, he also has left with us the reminder to move through the rest of our lives with conviction, curiosity, and most of all - love. - Madyson To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Beresford, please visit our floral store.
