Rev. Bernie Curry

Reverend Bernie Curry, 86, of Manchester, CT, the beloved husband to Barbara (Gee) Curry, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 14th, 2025. He was born to the late Buster Curry and Indiana (Moore) Curry on December 12th, 1938, in Marion, AL, where he graduated from the historic African American, Lincoln High School. Bernie was a true Christian and man of God. He loved the Lord and was an active member of Third Baptist Church in Suffield, CT for many years. There, he faithfully served the Lord as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Reverend and Interim Pastor. He retired from both the A&P Groceries Warehouse in East Hartford, CT, and the City of Hartford. He was a member of the St. Peter's Masonic Lodge for years, serving as the Worshipful Master for two consecutive years. Bernie is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Tindall of New Britain, CT and Trayce (Edward) Zimmer of Keller, TX and two sons, Kevin (Terry) Curry of Colchester, CT and Tylon (Crystal) Curry of East Hartford, CT. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and a host of stepchildren: Donna, Stephanie, Tara, and Cheryl; great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bernie was blessed to have been born into a very large southern family, consisting of fourteen brothers and two sisters. He took pride in maintaining a loving relationship with his remaining siblings and leaves five brothers: Eddie, Mayos, Norman, Dorman and Napoleon, as well as two sisters, Mildred Phillips and Clementine Hunt to cherish his memory. In addition, he leaves six sisters-in-law: Anna, Earlie, Nannie, Evelyn, Doris and Louella. Bernie was predeceased by both his parents and eight brothers: Arthur, Earl, Claude, Walter, Lee Joseph, Benjamin, Darnell and Charles Curry and granddaughter, Breanna Monts.
