David Boudreau Obituary

David Robert Boudreau, 59, of South Windsor, beloved husband of Richard C. Smith, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 16, 2025, at Hartford Hospital. He was born in Manchester, CT, on May 27, 1966, son of the late Robert J. and Jean F. (Dockham) Boudreau. A graduate of South Windsor High School in 1984, David went on to study music at the Hartt School of Music and earned his bachelor's degree in 1988. David earned his master's degree from Central Connecticut State University in 1997. His first music teaching job was at a Middle School in New Haven and transferred to Dag Hammarskjold Middle School in Wallingford two years later, where he was still teaching after 35 years. Dave taught chorus and strings and enjoyed leading the theatrical productions at Dag Hammarskjold Middle School for the past 23 years. He married the love of his life, Richard C. Smith, on October 5, 2005. David had a passion for music, was an accomplished cook, loved attending concerts, and enjoyed the outdoors, especially the beach. Spending time with his family was most important. Family gatherings were his favorite, highlighted by a competitive game of cornhole. Along with his husband, Richard of over 20 years, he leaves his two sisters, Deborah Vargo and her husband Raymond of Laconia, NH, and Lisa Boudreau and her spouse Leslie Leonard of Eatonton, GA, his sister-in-law, Penelope Serio and her husband Robert of West Simsbury, his mother-in-law, Pauline "Paula" Smith and her partner Eddie Cyr of Manchester, his father-in-law, Leon Smith and his wife Hope of Port St. Lucie, FL, his aunt, Pearl Lukas of East Hartford, his nieces, Sara Vargo and her husband Charles Hoesly of San Diego, CA, Emma Vargo of Snowmass Village, CO, and Briana Burke and her husband Kevin of North Granby, his nephew, Austin Serio of Brooklyn, NY, and many other family members and friends. His family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 4-7 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in David's memory. Please make checks payable to: Dag Hammarskjold Middle School, 106 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492. (Please note in the memo on your check "for music program only").
