David Dow Obituary

David C. Dow, 68, known affectionately as 'Gutterman,' passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Yale New Haven Hospital, after a courageous battle with a long-term illness. His beloved wife, children, and sister were by his side. David is survived by his wife, best friend and soulmate, Mary Lou Dow, along with all of his loving children, including his daughter, sons, 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, his beloved nephew, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved sister, Cynthia. He was also survived by his two brothers. He was predeceased by his brother, Brian Dow, his niece, Melanie Dow and his brother-in-law, Charlie. Born in Meriden, CT on April 27, 1956, he was the son of the late Robert C. Dow and Florence (Brehm) Dow. A lifelong resident of Meriden, David attended St. Rose of Lima School and Francis T. Maloney High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1973 and served in the Pacific for six years. He also served in the 2nd Company Governor Footguard as a Sergent for fifteen years. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church. David started and ran his own successful seamless Gutter Business, "Dave Dow and Sons" for over 40 years. David Dow the "Gutterman" was the dearest, loving, loyal, kind husband that anyone could ever hope for. He was and is the "BEST DAD", Grandfather (Papa), brother and friend EVER! To all who were privileged to know and to love him were "HONORED" to be his friend. "GUTTERMAN", you will truly be missed. We will never forget you! Family and friends are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 177 West Main St., Meriden, CT 06451. Everyone is asked to meet at the church. There will be no calling hours. Burial with military honors, will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. At David's request, please DO NOT send flowers, instead make a contribution in his name to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org/ or Homes for our Troops at support.hfotusa.org.
