Dorothy A. Ahern

Dorothy A. (Oneto) Ahern, 93, of South Meriden, died on Saturday, February 8, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late John Joseph Ahern of 72 years. Dorothy was born in Hartford, May 28, 1931, a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Pearl Oneto. She met John at a dance at the P.N.A. Park. They were married at Holy Trinity Church on June 16, 1951. They soon started a family and settled in Wallingford. Dottie had two children and returned to work at Masonic Home for 28 years until her retirement. She enjoyed walking at the Square for many years and made lots of friends. She was a woman of deep faith who loved her church. She also enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by her family and baking for them. She was the kindest of souls and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Connecticut Baptist Home for their excellent care. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Ann DiStasio of South Meriden; her daughter-in-law, Lynn Ahern; her grandchildren, Jessica Ahern, Kim Israel (Chris) and Jason Michael (Michelle); her great grandchildren, Paul, Jared, Zelia, Cooper and Jaidyn; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, John Thomas Ahern; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Rita and Leo Deneault and Veronica and Michael Trigilio; and her brothers and sisters-in-law Thomas Oneto Jr. and his wife Rita, and Paul and Patricia Oneto. Dorothy's family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Sunday, February 16th, from 2-4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, at 11am directly at Most Holy Trinity Church, 84, N. Colony St., Wallingford. Interment be private at St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
