Elizabeth "Betty" Conroy

Elizabeth "Betty" Capone Conroy, 85, of East Haven, beloved wife of the late George Conroy, passed away February 17, 2025 at Yale New Haven Hospital St. Raphael Campus. She was a devoted mother to her late sons, Martin "Marty" and George J. Conroy; she fought tirelessly for both of them. Loving sister of the late Pasquale and Nicholas Capone, Jane DeFillippi, Margaret Proto, Catherine DelVecchio and Marie Midolo. She will be greatly missed by her nephew, Ernest (Marianne) DelVecchio, of East Haven. Betty is also survived by her great nieces and nephews, Gina DelVecchio, Lisa (Jason) Carini and Michael (Leah) DelVecchio, and great-great nieces and nephews, Michael and Teddy DelVecchio and Marianna and Adelina Carini, and good friend of the family, Tony Speranza. Betty was born in New Haven on April 23, 1939 daughter of the late Frank and Mary Serra Capone. Prior to her retirement, Betty worked as a clerk for the Air National Guard in Orange. Betty was very social and enjoyed get-togethers with her friends at the Guilford Senior Center and friends at her apartment complex.Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven SATURDAY morning at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call SATURDAY morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
