Eugene Sierakowski Obituary

Eugene Adam Sierakowski, formerly of Manchester, passed peacefully on October 4 in Raleigh, North Carolina, following complications from dementia. He was 77. A proud leap year baby, he was born in Hartford on February 29, 1948, to the late Irene (Kowalik) and Francis Sierakowski, then of Rockville. After graduating with his BS from Southern New Hampshire University, he spent a formidable part of his career working in Information Technology field for Aetna and later for Computer Sciences Corporation, followed by a career in his semi-retirement at Sears. He met Dorothy Kobus, then of New Britain, and the two were married in 1975. They resettled in Manchester and would be married for 29 years. They shared sons Michael and Jonathan, and he is survived by Michael, Jonathan (Elizabeth), and three granddaughters. Eugene was proud of his sons and his growing family, and was passionate about history, particularly his Polish heritage, and model railroading. He was active for many years on Manchester's Planning & Zoning Commission, volunteered as a poll worker for numerous elections, and was a member of the local Elks Lodge as well as the Connecticut Society of Ferroequinologists and Model Railway Engineers. The Sierakowski family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the kindness exhibited by many in the community of Manchester, as well as the special attention and connection from his caregivers. Particular gratitude is extended to Norma, who brought extraordinary quality and comfort to both Eugene and his family during his time in North Carolina. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Tierney Funeral Home at 219 West Center Street in Manchester on Friday, October 10, from 10:00am until 12:00 noon. A brief service will begin at noon. He will be laid to rest privately in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
