Fred J. Rosen

After a life well-lived, Frederick J. Rosen, beloved father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, passed away at Yale New Haven Smilow Hospital on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by family. Born March 16,1943, raised in New Haven to Belle (Kaye) and Harold Rosen, Fred had a generous heart and a dry wit. He built a life marked by integrity, curiosity, and a love of lively conversation, turning ordinary moments into memorable stories. A graduate of Quinnipiac College, Fred founded and ran Rosen & Finsmith CPAs for 58 years, guiding generations of clients through the annual ritual of filing their taxes. Outside the office, he could often be found at the JCC on the racquetball court. Fred lived life on his own terms and was never short of sarcastic one-liners along the way. He will be remembered for being a loving father and grandfather as well as for his generosity, and the joy he found in simple pleasures like reading, watching college basketball, and good conversation. Fred was predeceased by his beloved wife, Susan. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer, and son-in-law Ross (Novak) and their two daughters, Mia and Sascha, his son Adam and daughter-in-law Beth and their two children, Ellie and Charlie, his sister Betsy and her husband Mark Mandel, and his companion of thirteen years, Cindie Beauchamp, whose care and devotion meant so much to him. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary staff at Yale New Haven Smilow. Their compassion, professionalism, and care made an unbearable time easier, tending not only to Fred but to his family as well. Funeral Services will be held at Mishkan Israel Cemetery, 60 Jewell St. New Haven on SUNDAY morning Sept.14th, at 10:00 am Shiva will follow the service at the family's home in Woodbridge.
