George Stewart Obituary

George C. Stewart, Jr., age 67, of Meriden, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in his home on September 30, 2025, surrounded by his wife and children. George was born on February 14, 1958, in Southington, Connecticut, to George C. Stewart and Lois Stewart, née Pierson. He grew up in Hartford, Enfield, and Meriden, Connecticut. He graduated from Platt High School in 1976. On September 14, 1985, George married Cheryl Stewart, née Phillips, and together they raised five children, George III, Jared, Katherine, Carolyn, and Elise. He worked as a computer programmer for forty-five years and was known for his amazing work ethic and sense of humor. George will be remembered for his incredible faithfulness to his God, his family, and his church. George was saved at the age of twenty-four, and he would later lead his wife Cheryl to the Lord while working at The Hartford. George was a natural athlete. With his height and competitive spirit, basketball came easily to him. He loved playing in men's softball leagues, at church picnics, and on various work teams, always bringing his energy and camaraderie to the game. He loved to tell jokes and share his faith, helping lead many souls to Christ. George was a faithful member of Heritage Baptist Church, where he served for forty-three years. He is survived by his wife Cheryl of forty years; his five children: his son George III and his wife Hannah, his son Jared and his wife Pamela, his daughter Katherine, his daughter Carolyn, his daughter Elise and her husband Jesse; and his seven grandchildren: William, Eleanor, Drew, Blair, Ava, Juliette, and Dean. He is also survived by his three siblings: Karen and her husband Thomas, Brian and his wife Stephanie, and Diana. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Lois Stewart. A Memorial Service will be held on October 11, 2025, at Heritage Baptist Church in Wallingford, Connecticut, with Pastor Thomas Bish officiating. Visitation will begin at noon, followed by a 1:00 pm service. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of George, please visit our floral store.
