Gregory Walters Obituary

Gregory W. Walters, 68 of Hamden, CT passed away on March 3, 2025.Gregory was born on September 13, 1956, in New Haven, CT to the late Mr. George Walters Sr. and Mrs. Marilyn Harris Walters. He was educated in the New Haven school system, graduating from James Hillhouse High School in 1974. Post graduation, he began working for the United Illuminating Company (UI) as a meter reader and later advancing to a Journeyman Working Leader. Through his diligence and strong work ethic, he trained many young people who came after him, leading by example, always having a listening ear, and by providing encouraging words. He retired from the UI after 39 years of service. Gregory found much enjoyment in sports, having briefly played on the CT Chargers football team. He also enjoyed tennis, bowling, baseball, card games and coaching young ones in sportsmanship. He always enjoyed the opportunity of a challenge to expand his creativity. He dedicated his life to Jehovah on May 23,1973 following the spiritual path that his mother shared with him. Making this dedication his own, he went on to joyfully share the Bible truths with all whom he encountered. Gregory always lent a helping hand to others: gladly assisting with the lawn care and cleaning of the Kingdom Hall and offering rides to both assemblies and meetings. He also zealously enjoyed his parts at the meetings and his time spent in the ministry with his spiritual family. Gregory went on to marry Marcia Sims in 1974 and together they would raise a loving family. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Marcia Walters and his children Odessa, Justin (Kashti), James (Melissa) and Dwayne, his brothers Glen, Anthony, Stephen (predeceased), Lawrence (predeceased) and George Jr., his sisters: Robin, Cheryl, Cynthia and Gina, His grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. The Walters family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to everyone for all their support, encouragement, empathy and love shown to us during this time. Isaiah 25:8"He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces."
