Henry Osborne Obituary
Henry Polk Osborne, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away in the Atwater Memory Care wing of McLean in Simsbury, CT, on May 6th, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Born on April 20, 1954, in Kansas City, MO, Henry lived a life full of devotion, kindness, and service to others.
Henry, a veteran of the United States Navy, served his country with quiet resolve and integrity, continuing a tradition of military service in his family. After his time in the Navy, he began a career in nuclear welding before transitioning into medical research at Yale University. Later, he excelled in IT management through his work with numerous for-profit and non-profit organizations, including U.S. Government Housing Authorities. Driven by a deep compassion for the unhoused-especially veterans-Henry's work reflected his unwavering commitment to those in need.
Henry's greatest joy was his family, whom he cherished deeply and took immense pride in. He also found deep fulfillment in his church family at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tariffville, CT. For decades, he faithfully served as a youth minister and Sunday School teacher, mentoring generations of young people in their faith journeys. His wisdom, gentle humor, and steadfast dedication were an inspiration to all who knew him.
Henry is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Osborne; his children and their spouses: son Jason Osborne (Melissa) of Pomfret, CT, and their sons, Ayden and Joshua; daughter Kristine Lawson (Lamont) of Granby, CT, and their children, Levi and Isla; and son Robert Osborne (Caroline) of Nashville, TN, and their daughters, Verity and Adelaide.
He is also survived by his siblings: William Osborne (Diana) of American Fork, UT, and their children; Marshall Osborne (Kathryn) of Liberty, MO, and their children, Alexis and Ryan; Evan Osborne (Ashley) of Spokane, WA, and their children, William and Emily; Shalise Osborne Day (Chad) of Orem, UT; Alec Osborne (Meghan) of Sandy, UT, and their daughter, Olivia; and his sister Susan Osborne of Loveland, CO.
He also leaves behind two brothers-in-law: Edward Kogut of Wethersfield, CT, and Timothy Becker of Manchester, CT. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Carol Becker of Manchester, CT. He is also survived by their children: Stephen Becker (Laura) of Manchester, CT, and their son, Liam; and Maureen Becker of San Diego, CA.
He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, pragmatism, and profound kindness. Henry lived a life that embodied humility and grace, leaving an enduring legacy of love and service.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Tariffville, CT, on May 16th at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Kateri Medical Services in his memory. Donations may be sent to 11 Church Street, Tariffville, CT 06081.
