Howard Heavens Obituary

Mr. Howard M. Heavens, 90, of Prospect, passed away on June 27, 2025 at St. Mary's Hospital while enfolded in the love of his family. Howard was born to Henry M. and Elsie (Robinson) Heavens on September 2, 1934 in Ansonia. Growing up, Howard had a penchant for singing and loved to croon and perform for his family and friends. Being one of six children, he always had either an audience or some backup vocalists to sing with. His enthusiasm and his powerful tenor voice carried him to eventually sing in a barber shop quartet, and later in his life Howard loved to perform for the seniors at the Senior Center as part of the Songbirds (when he wasn't playing Bingo, of course!). Howard drove a truck for Bunting's Express in Seymour for 40 years. He knew how to navigate just about anywhere in the state of Connecticut earning him the nickname of Pioneer. Besides his singing, Howard was known for his proficiency at toying with computers, cheering on the Uconn Girls basketball team, and his love of the New York Mets baseball team. However, his deepest love went to his wife of 44 years, Christolene (Spartas) Heavens. Together, Howard and Chris raised their children and were a shining example of a beautiful American family. Howard leaves behind a legacy of love, starting with his wife, Chris, and their children- Patti Stevens (Glynn Kruger) of Tennesee, and Gene Heavens (Patricia) of Harwinton, his stepchildren Robin Papanikolaou of Waterbury and Randall James (Becky) of Wolcott, 17 grandchildren, over 40 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Howard now joins his late parents, Henry and Elsie, along with his brothers William, Alfred, and Norman, his sisters Jeanette and Jane, and his son, William B. Heavens. Visitation will take place July 9, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd. Prospect, CT 06712. A celebration of life service will begin at 1:30 p.m., following visitation.
