J. Dombrowski Obituary
J. Alfred "Al" Dombrowski, 94, the loving husband of the late Marjorie Julia (Hall) Dombrowski for 61 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Al was born August 24,1930 in Winsted, the son of the late Joseph and Ceslawa (Banach) Dombrowski.
Al graduated from UCONN and proudly served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He worked in insurance for many years for Metropolitan Life. Al then owned and operated a small machine shop in Winsted.
Al was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Winsted. He was also very civic minded, working at the elections and serving as Moderator, and on the Board of Education for many years. He was also a founding member of Winsted's Pop Warner Football.
Al loved all sports, especially UConn Basketball. He and Marjorie enjoyed travelling, especially to Hawaii which they visited 13 wonderful times.
Al was the most patient, kind man. He was a dedicated family man: a loving husband, father to his "5 J's" and Papa. He is already greatly missed.
Al is survived by his beloved sons: Joe (Anna), Jerry (Cathy), and Jeff (Paula) and daughter-in-law, Andrea; 13 grandchildren, John, Stephen (Lauren), Jenny Dallis (Mike), Joanna (Chris Unick), Michael (Denise), Dr. Julia Vitali (Jake), Kristen Cramer (Andrew), James, Emily Lomuscio (James), Matthew, Jason (Stephanie), Andrew and Jeffrey; 20 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Helen Dombrowski; along with many loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Al was predeceased by two sons, John and James; grandson Peter; granddaughter Abigail; brother Edward and sisters Laura and Wanda.
Friends may call on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 4 - 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at St. Joseph Church, Winsted at 10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Winsted with Military Honors. May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. Many fond memories growing up next to you all, well Gram but I was there all the time. Al was always so nice to me, and such a great neighbor

Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your dad. We loved having Mr. D at the field watching the Collinsville baseball games and cheering the team on. We also enjoyed the meaningful conversations on the sidelines whether it was family, religion, politics, or sports he was always thoughtful and the life lessons will always stay with us! He will be missed.
