James Carter Obituary

James P. Carter, Sr., 79, of Windsor, beloved husband for 47 years of Audrey (Perry) Carter, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025. James was born in Warsaw, VA, son of the late Lillian (Newton) Carter and Warren Carter, and attended local schools. He was a skilled tailor, a passionate real estate agent, and a dedicated Mason. James was also a devoted communicant of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hartford. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was known for his unwavering love of family, generosity, kindness, and compassion, and his many talents and warm spirit made a lasting impact on his community and loved ones alike. James also had a great sense of humor that touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In addition to his wife and best friend, Audrey, he is survived by his sons, James P. Carter, II, and Brandon L. Carter; his grandchildren, Kiesha, Jayvyn, and Ezekiel Carter; and a host of other relatives and friends. His family will receive friends on Friday, August 29, 10-11, with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, 140 Farmington Ave., Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery.
