James E. Farrell

James E. Farrell, 80, of Meriden, husband of the late Barbara (Normand) Farrell for 39 years, passed away January 12, 2025 at the Village at Kensington Place. Jim was born in New Haven on April 21, 1944, a son of the late Arthur and Mary (Corbett) Farrell. Jim grew up in Hamden and graduated from Hamden High School in 1962 and from UCONN School of Agriculture. He worked for the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station in New Haven for 28 years until his retirement. Jim loved to travel, and Aruba was their favorite destination with many trips taken there. He was a member of the Elks for 50 years. After waiting over 2 years for a much-needed heart transplant, Jim finally received the phone call that a heart was available. He was always proud of the fact that he was a transplant survivor for over 32 years. Jim's family is very appreciative of friends and the staff and residents at The Village at Kensington Place for their care and support of Jim over the years. Jim loved living at Kensington and being part of their community. Jim is survived by his sisters-in-law, Lorraine Grillo (Paul), of Florida, Marlene Ambrosini (Al), of Virginia, and Earlene Farrell, of Hamden; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, William Farrell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Spring.
