James "Jim" Doherty, Sr. Obituary

James "Jim" B. Doherty, Sr., 71, of Clinton, CT also formerly of Newington, CT and Stuart, FL, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford on October 14, 1953, Jim was the son of the late Charles F. Doherty, Jr. and Alice (Brechin) Doherty. A lifelong resident of Newington, he began his career with Louis Turgeon & Sons, Inc., and later served as a Seasonal Park Manager for the State of Connecticut at Hammonassett Beach State Park, where he spent countless hours doing what he loved most-being by the ocean. Jim was also a devoted member of South Congregational Church in Hartford. He will be remembered for his warm heart, his love of family, and his extraordinary ability to make friends wherever he went. His kindness, generosity, and genuine nature touched the lives of all who knew him. Jim is survived by his wife, Susan (Wright) Doherty; his sons, James B. Doherty, Jr., Richard C. Doherty, and Zachary Doherty; his daughter, Janice Souza; and 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including his "little angel," Hailey Lyn Doherty. He also leaves behind many cousins, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles F. Doherty, III, and David J. Doherty. Funeral services for Jim will be private.
