Jeffrey K. Eckert Sr.

Jeffrey K. Eckert, Sr., 65, of Higganum, Connecticut, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Middlesex Hospital. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, he was the son of the late LeRoy "Pete" and Ellen (Sauter) Eckert. Jeff was also predeceased by his sister, Wendy Eckert. In his 65 years, Jeff lived life to the fullest and without regrets. A true outdoorsman, Jeff found his greatest peace on the water and in the woods. He was an accomplished charter boat Captain and respected Commercial Fisherman, and he spent his life immersed in his passions. When not on the water, he enjoyed hunting-a pastime he proudly shared with his two sons. Jeff built a life with his beloved wife, Karen, his high school sweetheart and partner for decades, creating lifetime memories together. He also held a special place in his heart for his granddaughters, whose lives brought him pride and joy. Known for his integrity, warmth, and genuine friendship, Jeff leaves a legacy of laughter, strong family values, and cherished memories shared by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife together for 48 years, Karen Eckert of Higganum; his sons, Jeffrey Eckert Jr. of Gloucester, Virginia, and Jack Eckert of Higganum; his granddaughters, Margaret Eckert and Charlotte Eckert of Gloucester, Virginia; and his brothers, Daniel Eckert of Wyoming and Lance Eckert of Middletown, Connecticut. A celebration of Jeff's life will be held on Saturday, October 11th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Saybrook Point Marina, 2 Bridge St., Old Saybrook.
