Jerry D'Angelo Obituary

Jerry Lynn D'Angelo, 67, of Hartford passed away on January 21, just one day after his 67th birthday. Born to parents Nicholas D'Angelo and Anna Bach in Fort Bragg, NC, Jerry spent his early life traveling all over the world. When he arrived in Connecticut in the early 1980s, he worked as a union carpenter. Eventually, Jerry earned his bachelor's degree in construction management from Central Connecticut State University and made a career as a structural estimator with Berlin Steel Corporation. In 1983, Jerry was introduced to a caring nurse, Charlene Jasinski, who quickly became the love of his life. The couple would marry in 1989, and in 1991 welcomed their daughter Kristen. Jerry and Kristen enjoyed an unshakable bond, making countless memories taking trips and watching football games. Jerry was an avid Patriots fan – a season ticket holder – but originally began his football fandom by supporting the Vikings. He enjoyed working on his muscle cars – particularly his 1968 Firebirds, as well as fishing, hunting, and anything that would get him outdoors and into nature. A reserved extrovert, Jerry never wanted to be the center of attention but could talk to anyone and make them feel comfortable as though they'd been friends for years. His family recalls an unwavering diligence and determination which manifested into Jerry's favorite saying, "one step at a time." He was a man that never gave up and encouraged those around him to do the same. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Charlene D'Angelo, adored daughter Kristen D'Angelo, stepson William McNeil, sister Kathy Missal, brother-in-law Erik Missal and dear friends Dana Van Steenburg and Ed Colon. He also leaves behind Bruin and Maggie, his beloved Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the care Jerry received from the staff at Hartford Hospital's Bliss 3 North wing. Per Jerry's wishes, a celebration of life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the American Heart Association. Jerry was very quiet, with the exception of ED C. and I getting Jerry to share an opinion about the Patriots. He was a joy to work with, I'll miss our lunches. Prayers to Jerry and his loved ones.
