Joanne McDowall, 74, beloved wife of Jim McDowall, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Masonicare Health Center. She was born in Detroit, MI on November 16, 1950, daughter of the late Frank and Marion (Higgins) Smith. Joanne grew up in Ohio and graduated from Harvey S. Firestone High School with the class of 1968. She went on to obtain her nursing degree from Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing in Akron, OH. Having spent her formative years in Ohio, she was a passionate fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and their marching band. She loved to travel throughout the world, but was especially fond of Orlando to visit Disney. In addition to her husband, Joanne is survived by her daughter, Kaitlin McDowall; her son, Kevin McDowall (Cloé Canivet); and her brothers, Frank Smith and William Smith. Jim, l recall many years back when I would meet you and Joanne on the New Haven green to listen to summer concerts. We would share a bottle of wine or go out afterward to a pub. My sincerest condolences to you and family.
