MIDDLEBURY, CT John J. Capobianco "Beloved Husband, Father & Grandfather" John Jude Capobianco, 62, of Middlebury, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. He was the loving husband of Maria (Costa) Capobianco. John was born in Waterbury, CT on July 7, 1963, the son of the late John A. Capobianco Jr. and Marie (Goffredo) Capobianco. Besides his wife and best friend, Maria, for the past 20 years, John leaves his children, Sam Shin and his wife, Sohyun, of CA, Jackson Soa of Niantic, CT, Sophie Capobianco and her fiancé, Thomas, of CA, Jessica Ferreira and her husband, Luis, of Prospect, CT and Kevin Dos Santos, of Middlebury, CT. He also leaves his loving granddaughter, Adelina Ferreira, and another granddaughter on the way, and his cousins, who were more like sisters, Lisa Daunis and her husband, Ric, of Woodbury, CT and Dana Silva and her husband, Jesse, of Southbury, CT. He was a 1981 graduate of Holy Cross High School and earned an Associate's Degree from Naugatuck Valley Community College. He also earned his Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Western Connecticut State University and his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He enjoyed cooking and entertaining for his family and friends. John loved sports, was an avid golfer and looked forward to his yearly golf trip with his friends, Fred, Bill and Joe. He also enjoyed his season tickets to the UCONN football games which he looked forward to attending with Dan. John was a devoted healthcare leader; he paved the way for healthcare services in the northwest corner of Connecticut throughout his remarkable 40-year career at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Starting as a nurse, John rose to become Senior Vice President of Operations for Hartford HealthCare's Northwest Region, leaving a legacy of compassion, innovation, and service. John was instrumental in expanding healthcare access within the hospital and throughout the community. He championed the creation of the Center for Youth and Families, the Winsted Health Center, and Torrington's Imaging Center, bringing critical services closer to home. John will be remembered for his tireless commitment to healthcare excellence and the profound impact he made on patients, colleagues, and the community. He fought with superhuman strength despite an unrelenting illness. He showed extraordinary strength, dignity, and resilience. Throughout it all, his unwavering dedication to both his family- and his family at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital remains a source of inspiration to all. Arrangements: Calling hours for John will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT. A prayer service will be celebrated on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
