John Copes, Jr. Obituary

John Vincent Copes, Jr., 70, of Manchester, beloved husband of Diane (Hunter) Copes, died peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family. John was born in Waterbury, CT, on September 23, 1954, son of the late John V. and Margaret (Pekrul) Copes. He was a graduate of JFK High School in Waterbury and went on to get his degree in Computer Science from Waterbury State Technical College. John worked in the Information Security Industry for most of his career at Cigna. He enjoyed cooking and traveling, spending many vacations with Diane in Antigua. Along with his wife of over 19 years, Diane, he leaves his sons, Brendan Copes of Windsor Locks, Jordan Copes and his wife Tara of Enfield, and Daniel Copes and Nicole Jones of Manchester he also leaves his 5 grandchildren, his brother, Bill Copes and his wife Cathy of CT, his sister, Grace Perkins of FL, and his brother-in-law, Alan Hunter of South Windsor. He was predeceased by his sister, Janice Strunk. His family will receive friends on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 10-11:30am at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A private graveside service will follow at East Cemetery at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to your local animal shelter.
