John Charles Cregan

John Cregan, 89, passed away on August 8, 2025, at River Ridge at Avon. Born on May 30, 1936, in New Britain, CT, to the late Henry and Marguerite (Foran) Cregan, John spent 81 years as a beloved resident of Plainville, Connecticut. A beacon of joy and laughter, Uncle John left an enduring mark on the lives of those who knew him. He was a consistent presence in his family's life, spreading lightheartedness and humor during holidays, weddings, graduations, and other family events. His jokes and playful wit made him the life of the party, and his presence will be deeply missed. Uncle John enjoyed quality time and conversation with family, people he met in Norton Park, and his community at Westerleigh Apartments. As a self-proclaimed chocoholic, he was often found indulging in chocolates, ice cream, and other treats at family gatherings. His legacy of curiosity, kindness, and silliness will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him. Though his passing leaves a void, Uncle John will be fondly remembered for the spirit, laughter, and countless memories he brought to our lives. John is survived by his dog Myles, whom he referred to as his "brother"; his nieces Maureen Casorio (Carter Flatt), Margaret Rushlow (Richard Rushlow), Yvette Dyson (Shaun Dyson); his great nieces and nephews Abigail Lombardi (Nicholas Lombardi, Oliver Lombardi), Christopher Casorio (Consuelo Torrini, Emma Casorio), Kristin Donnelly (Christopher Donnelly), Kevin Rushlow. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery in Plainville.
