The first day that we moved in next door to John and Marlene, John came to the fence and asked if he could give our dogs treats. Twenty-nine years, several dogs, and many dog treats later, we have been the best of friends to the point of having a Christmas get-together every year, attending John and Marlene's 50th Anniversary party, taking many home-cooked meals and Lindt chocolates with John, and having hundreds of great conversations and John telling us stories from his life. We have great memories of John supervising while Mike mowed his lawn or snow-blowed his driveway (he wanted things done his way). It is difficult to express in words how much John and Marlene have meant to Mike and I - suffice it to say that we loved them both dearly and considered them family. Our lives are forever better for having known John and Marlene and having them in our lives. They were both remarkable, joyful people and will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered forever. RIP John.
