Josephine DiMauro Obituary
WINSTED – Josephine DiMauro, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at her home. She was the loving wife of the late John DiMauro for 62 years. Born March 19, 1933 in Sicily; the daughter of the late Santo and Lucia (Romano) Spada.
Josephine immigrated to the United States in 1956 and has been a resident of Winsted, CT and St. Petesrburg, FL. ever since.
She was employed by the Pearson School as a Cook. She also with her husband owned and operated John's Imports in Winsted where she was lovingly known for handing out Swedish red fish candy to all the children who came to the store.
She was a tremendous cook and loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed Florida and spending time in her home there for 26 years.
Josephine is survived by her three beloved sons, Pat DiMauro and wife Mary of New Hartford, Santo DiMauro and wife Lauren from Winsted and John DiMauro Jr. and significant other, Lisa Papagna from Winsted. She also leaves six grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Jennifer, Jason (Nicole), Jonathan and wife Stefanie, Christopher and wife Kay, Christina and Chelsea DiMauro; two great grandsons, Jack and Freddie and two on the way; brother-in-law, Frank and Dora DiMauro of Middletown; sister-in-law, Norma Spada of Colebrook; and beloved nieces, Josephine DiMauro,Marianna Vasiliou, Mary Lou Vasquenza and Elisa Hurst.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Joe and Tom Spada.
The family would like to give special thanks to her caretaker, Dolly for all her care and kindness for the last six years.
Friends may call on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 5pm – 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at St. Joseph's Church, 31 Oak Street, Winsted, CT at 10 AM. Burial will be private at St. Joseph Cemetery, Winsted.
