Joyce A. Lafo

Joyce A. Lafo "Family Matriarch" Naugatuck, CT Joyce A. Lafo, 91, the widow of Francis E. Lafo, Sr., her loving husband of 59 years, died February 9, 2025 at Waterbury Hospital. Joyce was born November 17, 1933 in Waterbury, CT daughter of the late Harry and Jennie (Kaminski) Dethlefsen and had lived in Naugatuck all of her life. Joyce retired from Marshall's, where she had worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed playing bingo with her best friends, playing cards and spending time with family. She was an avid fan of UConn Men's and Women's Basketball and the Dallas Cowboys. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Denise Cummings (Robert) and Jean Henderson (Bro); her sons, Francis E. Lafo, Jr. (Kelly) and Steven L. Lafo, Sr. (Dixie); her 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. In addition to her husband and her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her daughter, Lori Lafo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 21, 2025 at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending Mass is kindly asked to please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.
