Kenneth Liszka Obituary

Kenneth Michael "Ken" Liszka passed away on Tuesday March 25th from heart failure. He was born February 12th, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Chester and Lois Liszka. He attended St. Rita's High School in Chicago and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Lewis University and a Master's degree from Boston University. Ken will be missed by his favorite travel partner and quiet evening movie companion, his wife, Linda Calatayud Liszka. His spirit will be carried forward by his children: Joan Whitney Liszka, who inherited his talent for puzzles and dad jokes; Kerry Martha Liszka, who shares his passion for sports and musical theater; and Michael Kenneth Liszka, who inherited his handyman skills and love for music and sound engineering. He is also survived by his younger brother William Louis Liszka. Ken will be remembered by family, friends, and neighbors as a dedicated walker of the family dogs - Mitzi, Myles, and previously Max; a devout member of the church and the Knights of Columbus; and an enthusiastic sangria mixologist. A visitation will be held on April 12th at 10:00 a.m. in the Narthex of Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in North Wales, PA, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will be held in the family plot in Wallingford, CT. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ken's name to the American Diabetes Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance. Ken was a fraternity brother and fellow associate at the college radio station. An amazingly talented engineer that kept our college radio station operating. A gentle spirit. Rest in the arms of our dear Lord my brother.

Ken was my college roommate for two years, fraternity brother in Kappa Delta Rho and a member of the Lewis University FM station, WLRA. He was the first chief engineer as the station went from carrier current to FM broadcasting. He was a great friend and roommate. Unfortunately, our lives took us in different geographical directions and I was only able to see him once at a reunion we put on for our fraternity around 20 years ago. I greatly appreciated his sunny personality, quick (and a bit corny) wit, loyalty and friendship during our college years. I will miss him greatly.
