Laura Ferreira Obituary

Laura (Saraiva) Ferreira, 89, beloved wife of the late Fernand "Fred" Joaquin Ferreira, entered into Eternal Rest on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Masonicare at Mystic. Laura was born in Fall River, MA on July 15, 1935, the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Adelaide (Furtado) Saraiva. She shared a beautiful life with Fred, her husband of 58 years and love of her life. Together they created a home centered on love, faith, and family. Laura and Fred raised their family in Enfield, CT and spent more than 20 years of their retirement enjoying winters in Naples, FL, where they made lasting memories with so many wonderful friends. Laura was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother whose joy came from spending time with her family. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Bernard Church and an active member of the Rosary Guild. She was a loving mother who spread her love to so many children as a pre-school teacher for many years. Laura also fancied shopping and later in life decided to go into retail where she enjoyed working at a local women's boutique and children's store. Prior to moving to Masonicare in Mystic Laura resided at St. Francis Residence in Enfield where she made wonderful friends and built lasting memories. Her days at St. Francis were filled with playing cards, games, exercise classes and social activities. She also served as an associate member of the Felician Sisters. Her legacy lives on through her four daughters: Ramona Ferreira-Wyckoff and her husband John of Somers, CT; Elizabeth Ferreira Iadarola and her husband Joseph of Castleton, VT; Kathleen Ferreira Payne and her husband John of Reedville, VA; and Karen Ferreira of Wakefield, RI. She will be lovingly remembered by her eight grandchildren: Amelia Wyckoff, Alexander and Zachary Iadarola, Jacob Payne and his wife Kayla Harris-Payne and Rachael Payne, and Joseph, Sarah, and Olivia Betancourt;; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Brynlee Payne. Laura was a woman of deep faith. A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave. (Route 190), Enfield, CT. Burial will be held privately immediately following the Mass. My sincerest condolences to this beautiful family as you´re more than the loss of your lovely mother, Motherinlaw, grandmother and great grandmother. I know the pain too well. I will always treasure the memories of our visits as a young family to the home in Connecticut. We were always greeted with giant smiles and so much love.
