Louis Del Pivo Obituary
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025 Louis Joseph Del Pivo, 90 of Colchester, CT passed away at his home with his loving grandson Kyle by his side.
Born in Waterbury, CT on June 10, 1935 he was the only son of the late Louis and Josephine (Battistelli) Del Pivo. After his father built a beautiful house in Naugatuck, CT Louis and his three sisters grew up in that warm comfortable home.
Being the youngest of four children, he is predeceased by his three sisters: Esterena (Rena) Del Pivo, Enes and husband Bob Davis, Alice and husband John Di Nola. Louis is also predeceased by his daughter, Tina Marie Del Pivo, and niece Linda Riley.
Louis is survived by three of his four children: Richard, Robert and wife Bridgette Del Pivo, Cindy and husband Brian Mellor, his two grandsons Andrew (A.J.) and wife Amber Del Pivo, Kyle Del Pivo, daughter-in-law Marjorie Del Pivo, along with his nephew and nieces, John and Karin Di Nola, Keith and Janet Di Nola Parmerter, Kathleen and George Schneider, and many great nieces and nephews.
In 1956, Louis married Margie Vassak, and the young couple began married life in Waterbury, CT raising their first three children, Richard, Robert and Cindy. In 1965 they moved to Naugatuck, CT and three years later, their youngest daughter Tina was born. They lived as a family for 25 years in Naugatuck, before moving to Colchester, CT in 1981. On April 14, 2025 they would have been married for 69 years but Margie passed away on April 4, and in his usual humorous manner, Louis said, "Margie, you couldn't wait 10 more days?"
Being baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1949, Louis was devoted to his faith and in the 1950's before his marriage, he served two years as a volunteer at the world headquarters of Jehovah's Witnesses. For a number of years, he also served as an elder in various Connecticut congregations.
As a deli manager for over 40 years, Louis was proud of his youngest grandson, Kyle because he followed in his footsteps in the deli department at a local grocery store. More important to Louis, as he recently expressed, he was proud that both of his grandsons chose to faithfully serve Jehovah God.
We love you our dear friends and family, and want to give a big thank you to dad's next-door neighbor Bill, who dad referred to as, "a brother from another mother", and who daily visited Louis, even while he was staying at Harrington Court and Apple Rehab. Louis was very attached to Bill's dog, Hero, because each day, Hero checked up on Louis and together, their visits brought him so much joy!
Most of all, the Mellor/DelPivo family want to express the greatest thanks to our brothers and sisters in faith, who have enthusiastically encouraged us during these last few years throughout the sickness & eventual death of our parents/ grandparents. Your love has not gone unnoticed by all of us, and most of all by our Heavenly Father Jehovah.
The in person memorial service for Louis Del Pivo will be held Saturday October 25, 2025 at 2:00 PM, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 297 Westchester Rd, (Route 149) Colchester, CT 06415
