Marie LaMonica Obituary

Marie (Danisi) Lamonica, 96, entered into her eternal rest with God on January 26, 2025. Marie was born in Bronx, NY on January 13, 1929. She met and married Rocco LaMonica in 1953 and moved to Connecticut where she has resided ever since. Marie leaves a legacy of love to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was devoted to God, and to her family, friends, and community. She loved to cook for her large family and hosted many holiday meals, birthday celebrations or just a chat over coffee. She was always available to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Whenever a friend or neighbor was in need, Marie was there to help, pray and provide food. She was an active participant at St. John's Church in Cromwell where she was a Eucharistic Minister. In the past she served as Director of Faith Formation and was helpful in coordinating the Chapel Adoration schedule and organizing a clean-up group to prepare the church for its major holidays. She was a good seamstress who sewed many of the church's altar cloths and provided hundreds of baptismal stoles for the newly baptized. Marie was predeceased by her loving husband, Rocco, her brother Daniel Danisi, and sisters Rose Carbone and Anna Ciancarelli. She is survived by her sister, Carol Nanovic of Bethpage, NY, five children and their spouses, Denise [Jay] Stemmler of Portland, CT, Paul [Diane] LaMonica of Middletown, CT, Stephen [Nancy] LaMonica of Higganum, CT, Mary [Louis] Tobias, and Carol [Andy] Dewey, both of Cromwell, CT. She is also survived by her fourteen grandchildren and her sixteen great grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Monday, February 10th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm at the Cromwell Funeral Home, 506 Main Street, Cromwell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 11th at 10:30 am at St. John's Church, 5 St. John Court, Cromwell. A burial will follow in the State Veteran Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-99008. Maria Figueredo

January 29, 2025

I met Marie at St John´s Church after my granddaughter´s accident. Marie and her friend Nellie were always at daily Mass, and always ready to pick me up as I was falling apart and glue me back together with a healing hug. No words, no "she is in a better place" emptiness but a healing hug. Now they are both gone to eternal life in the God they loved so much. I won´t say goodbye, just "hope to see you again one day, dear friend". Until then you are always in my heart and my prayers. Love you
