Marilyn Maresca Obituary

Marilyn A. Maresca, of North Haven, CT entered into rest on August 9, 2025, at her home, in the company of her two children. She was the wife of the late John (Jack) A. Maresca, Jr.. She leaves behind her devoted daughters, Maryellyn Maresca and Jacquelyn M. Thompson, along with her favorite son-in-law, Michael Thompson, all of North Haven. Marilyn was born in Buffalo, New York, on November 23, 1927. She moved to New Haven with her parents, Walter and Catherine Johnson, when she was 16 years old, and attended St. Mary's Academy for her senior year of high school. Upon graduating from high school, she worked as a secretary for Johnson & Goodyer Heating Company for many years. She then chose to take time off from work to care for her two children. She eventually returned to the work force in the 1970s, wherein she was employed by Yale University, Office of Admissions, and Stone Business School, respectively. Marilyn was a pleasant, happy person who enjoyed life. She looked forward to having her coffee and donuts in the morning, going out to dinner, listening to music, attending concerts and Broadway shows. But most of all, she was a caring, thoughtful mother, who loved spending time and sharing life with her daughters. Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Michael McGivney Parish in St Michael's Church, in New Haven, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Burial in All Saints Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Contributions may be made to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, All The King's Horse Equine Rescue, or The New Haven Animal Shelter. Arrangements are in the care of MARESCA & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Chapel Street, New Haven. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Marilyn A. Maryellen and Jacquie, your mother was a lovely woman in an every way. First time meeting her I felt as though I had known her forever. And the times that followed were such a pleasure just being in her presence. I am deeply saddened by the loss of your mother. That is something I can share with you..the loss of our mothers is so personal and not only our loving moms but our best friends. My love to all of you.

I´m so sorry, Maryellyn. It´s wonderful that your Mom had the two of you to care for her. Cling to the happy memories; they´ll sustain you both.
