Matthew Lagasse Obituary
Matthew Francis Lagasse, 56, cherished son, father, grandfather and brother, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025 in the comfort of his home following a lengthy illness.
Matt was born on July 21, 1969 in Hartford, CT son to Ausrite "Rita" (Furmonavicius) Lagasse Taylor and Roger Lagasse. Matt was a vibrant free spirit known for his generous heart and unconditional love for his family and friends. Growing up in Southington, he was always a phone call away, ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need-whether they were loved ones or strangers. Matt embraced life with a unique zest, finding joy in adventure and laughter. As the family jokester, he had an unparalleled ability to lighten any mood and remind us all not to take life too seriously.
Matt had an insatiable love for anything with a motor-be it cruising on his cherished motorcycle, driving his beloved truck, or enjoying the thrill of boating on serene waters. These activities encapsulated his adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors. A talented mechanic, he possessed a rare gift for bringing machines back to life. Matt was also the life of the living room, effortlessly outsmarting family members while watching game shows, showcasing not just his wit but his joy in spending time with loved ones.
A culinary artist in his own right, Matt never followed a recipe; instead, he conjured up delicious creations that delighted everyone around him. His cooking was a testament to his creativity and passion. Above all, he had a profound love for dogs, especially his loyal companion, Jasper, and his fur grandkids, Nova and Onyx, who brought immeasurable joy into his life.
Matt was a wild-hearted soul who truly lived life to the fullest and will be missed immensely by his loved ones.
In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his daughter, Amanda Lagasse; his son, Nicholas Lagasse and his wife, Shannon; his grandchildren, Aria Lagasse and Aidan Lagasse; his sister, Dawn Lagasse Pinard and her husband, Jerry; his brother, Michael Lagasse; his goddaughter, Emily Pinard; the mother of his two children, Iwona Scovill; his best friend, Carrie Riera; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
