Michael Callahan Obituary
Michael was born on March 18, 1942, to John P. Callahan and Elizabeth Rickey Callahan.
Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gail Callahan, as well as his sisters, Mary Pat Tierney and Elizabeth Jean Callahan.
He is survived by his loving children, Tim Callahan and his wife Patti, Teri Gareau and her husband Chris. Michael was a proud and devoted grandfather to Jacob, Brendan and his wife Jenna, Jon, Megan, and Sierra, and great grandfather to Nolan, who brought him immense joy and pride. He also leaves behind a sister-in-law Judy Pitts, a brother-in-law Frank Stamler and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Michael had a deep love for Cape Cod and the ocean, where he found peace, happiness, and some of his most treasured moments with family.
He built a long and successful career in the automotive industry, working as both a salesman and manager, where he was known for his dedication and ability to connect with people. Later in life, he pursued his entrepreneurial spirit by running his own business selling spices, a venture that reflected his independence and drive.
Michael was a passionate sports fan who never missed an opportunity to cheer on UConn Women's Basketball, the Boston Red Sox, and the Washington Commanders. His enthusiasm for the game was matched only by the joy he found in sharing those moments with family.
He also held a deep love for music and tradition, especially his time spent with the St. Patrick Bagpipe Band, where he formed lasting friendships and created cherished memories.
Michael will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his spirited fandom, and the warmth and humor he brought to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Church on April 11th at 11:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
