Nancy "Mitzi" Massaro

Nancy "Mitzi" Massaro, 67 of East Haven passed away unexpectedly, after a brief illness, at Yale New Haven Hospital on March 26, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born February 6, 1958 in New Haven to Morris and Nancy (Muro) Penington. Nancy is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Steven Massaro Sr. of East Haven and three loving children; Lisa Massaro-Konesky of North Branford, Steven Massaro Jr. of East Haven and Charlene DeMars of East Haven, along with grandchildren; Jaeden Konesky, Chase Konesky, Dominic Massaro, Jenna Rose Massaro, Sophia Massaro, Gianna Alvarado, Joel Alvarado and Julianna DeMars and one great grandson, Liam Massaro. Nancy is also survived by her three sisters; Roberta Curcio (Joseph) of East Haven, Barbara Anastasio (Fred) of East Haven and Annie Penington (John Tarka) of East Haven and several aunts, nieces/nephews and cousins. She is survived by her father, Morris and is preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Penington. Nancy loved playing her numbers, baking, and, most of all, her family. Every holiday, she wanted everyone at her house. It didn't matter that she slaved away all day, still covered in sauce and flour in her pink robe; she still wanted everyone there. She was a caregiver from day one, always putting other people first. There was always something special about her routines: a morning coffee and cigarette (s), a nightly Facetime call with her sisters and nieces, sending her grandkids on random stop-and-shop runs, going into HomeGoods "to see what they got" and of course calling you just wanting to know what you're up to. Above all things, her favorite thing was being a Nonnie and showering her grandkids with love and affection. Family will receive friends on Monday, March 31, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 1 at 11 AM in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven.
