Peter Verselli Obituary

Peter Daniel Verselli, 71, of Meriden, Connecticut, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, April 13, 2025. Born and raised in Meriden, Pete was the son of the late Daniel and Jeanne Verselli. He graduated from Maloney High School in 1972, and later earned his bachelor's degree in Business Management from Central Connecticut State University, after beginning his studies at Naugatuck Valley Community College and UCONN. A lifelong sports fan, especially when it came to his favorite team, the New York Yankees, Pete was lucky enough to turn his passion into a career. He landed his dream job at Starter where he traveled the country, visited iconic sports venues, met athletes, and soaked in the thrill of the game. Later, he worked at Keeney Manufacturing, where fate stepped in and he met the love of his life and best friend, Lin. Pete was larger than life in so many ways; funny, social, and the kind of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone. Whether at a ballgame, a family barbecue, or just running errands around town, he had a knack for connecting with people. He had a story for everything, a quick wit, and a heart as big as his personality. He loved his family fiercely, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with Lin, his daughters, and his grandchildren (especially when it involved going to a ball game). He was a dedicated husband, proud father, and an adoring grandfather who never missed an opportunity to show up, cheer you on, and make you laugh. Pete is survived by his wife of 24 years, Lin Verselli, his two beloved daughters, Laura Verselli (and partner Gleidson) and Amy Verselli (and partner Anthony). He was a proud and doting grandfather to E., Lucas, Penelope, and Anthony, who were the light of his life. He also leaves behind his brother Paul Verselli (and partner Mary Jean), sisters Diane Weckesser and Jodi Dascoli (and husband Tony), along with his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends who felt like family. His family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, April 19th from 9 to 11 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home 88 E. Main St., Meriden. A Celebration of Life will commence at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Pete's memory may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America, 2121 K Street NW Suite 200, Washington D.C. 20037 or online at lupus.org, an organization close to the family's heart.
