Rajeev P. Thakkar

Rajeev P. Thakkar, age 59, of Southington CT, loving husband of Beena Thakkar, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 23, 2025, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May, 22, 1965. Rajeev was born and raised in Mumbai, India, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree. In 1988, he moved to the United States, where he attended UMass Boston and achieved a BS in Computer Science. Rajeev thoroughly enjoyed working as a Software Engineer/Developer at MassMutual and has been there for over 20 years. Rajeev married Beena in 1998, and in 2002, they built their home together in Southington, where they raised their two children. Rajeev loved spending time with his children; he supported Amit in various sports and Robotics and was a devoted competitive dance dad to Anjali; he was such a proud dad. Rajeev enjoyed traveling with his wife and children, creating wonderful memories, especially on the many cruises they took as a family. He was a real foody; he loved all kinds of cuisines, especially spicy foods. Rajeev enjoyed gathering with friends and family and felt incredibly fortunate to have them in his life. He was also so handy, able to fix anything, and if he didn't know how to fix it, he figured out how. His whole family depended on him, and he was always there for them. Rajeev is survived by his wife of 27 years, Beena Thakkar; their two children, Amit and Anjali Thakkar; his parents, Pravin & Surekha Thakkar of Southington CT; his sister Sheetal Thakkar, her husband, Hitesh Thakkar, and their children Riya and Krish Thakkar of Mechanicsville, VA. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Bharti Desai, and brother-in-law, Paresh Desai of Southington, CT; his brother-in-law, Nilesh Desai, his wife Colleen Desai; and their children, Sajel, Jaya, and Maya Desai of Old Lyme, CT. He also leaves behind aunts and uncles who adore him dearly. Rajeev's passing has created a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many others whose lives he touched. We ask that you remember him not for how his life ended but for how it was lived and for the profound impact he had on those who had the pleasure of knowing him. The funeral will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor, CT.
