Raymond Huot Obituary
It's with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Gerard Huot, who entered the loving embrace of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 18, 2025, at the Veterans Hospital in Prescott Arizona. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on January 31, 1932, to Joseph and Marie Huot, Raymond was 93 years old at the time of his passing.
Raymond attended Torrington High School, and at the age of 18, he joined the United States Marine Corp where he served in the H&S Company 8th Marine 2nd Division FMF. After three years of service, he received an Honorable Discharge in 1954 and returned to Connecticut where he met the love of his life, Evelyn Ferris (Huot). They were married on May 19, 1956, and after a short time, Raymond enlisted in the United States Air Force where he faithfully served his country, retiring after 26 years with the rank of Senior Master Sargent. After retiring from the Air Force, Raymond worked in Civil Service as the Facilities Manager of the Benefield Anechoic Chamber at the Edwards Air Force Base until he fully retired in February of 1997.
Raymond was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, Lancaster, CA Council and Assembly 73 for 29 years. He joined the Knights on January 1, 1986, and quickly earned his 4th Degree on April 1, 1986. He went on to serve as the Faithful Navigator for Assembly 73 from 1989 to 1990. Through the Knights' organization, he was proud to support the local life crisis pregnancy centers and participated in tuition assistance for local Catholic High School students.
Raymond loved a good bowl of soup, pasta of any kind and lots of it, a good beer, an occasional martini, and he made the most amazing sauce and meatballs ever. He enjoyed many things including snow skiing, rock climbing, running, Harley Davidson motorcycles, cruises, and frequent family trips to Disneyland.
Raymond's highest calling was to serve and support his wife and family. Often working an extra job as a bartender at the Officer's Club to make sure we had enough money for the extras in life. Truth be known, it was Evelyn who kept him in line and managed all of those resources. His infectious personality and sense of humor brought new meaning to the term "dad jokes." He loved to tell stories of his family experiences and the wonderful memories he created with his loving wife, Evelyn. Everyone who knew him loved him and he loved them back unconditionally, which was his greatest gift to us.
Raymond and Evelyn were blessed with three children, ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren with one on the way. The stories they could tell of their adventures with their Dad and Papier could keep anyone occupied for hours, especially those amazing trips to Disneyland. Even though he took the kids, Evelyn never missed an opportunity to remind him that he loved going more than they did!
Raymond was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Marie; sisters, Rita and Annette; his wife, Evelyn; and his grandson, Matthew. Raymond is survived by his son, Mark and his wife Carol, daughter, Donna and son, Joseph and his wife Brenda; his grandchildren, Melissa and her fiancé Greg, Michelle and her partner Codie, Jason, Christopher and his wife Jade, Levi, Abbie and her husband Liam, Michael (Javonski), Rob, and Doug; his great-grandchildren, Veronica, Andrew, Alexander, "the boys" Ronan and Atlas, Mia, and a little baby due in September.
