Rita Connelly Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Rita Anne Connelly of Branford. Rita was a beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend, and aunt. Her family, who will cherish her memory, includes her sister Mary, brothers John and his wife Lorraine, and Thomas Connelly and his wife Nancy, nieces Jenna, Keara, and Sara, nephews Nicholas, Christopher, and Brendan, cousin David and his wife Tara, as well as her aunts, Anne Lyons and Katherine Connelly. Rita was predeceased by her father, Thomas Connelly, and her mother, Arlene Mason Connelly.Rita was known for her kindness, love, and compassion within her community. She dedicated much of her time volunteering with animals, generously supporting the Branford Compassion Club and Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter. Her passion for helping animals was matched only by her deep devotion to family and friends.When Rita wasn't volunteering, she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, whether at her favorite restaurants, on family getaways, at the movie theater, or engaging in her favorite "crafty" activities. She built lasting friendships, beginning in her childhood in Hamden, Connecticut, and continuing through her various jobs and adventures.Rita had a fulfilling career as an Assistant Occupational Therapist with the Bridgeport School District. She was passionate about her work, always going above and beyond for her students and co-workers.A proud aunt, Rita was deeply invested in the lives of her nieces and nephews, celebrating their milestones with love and enthusiasm.Rita will be greatly missed for her kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity, storytelling, and infectious sense of humor. Anyone who crossed Rita's path was instantly connected through her warmth. Her memory and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. This summer, when you see a dragonfly, think of Rita.Family and friends may call at the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80) East Haven TUESDAY from 3:00-5:00 PM. A Parlor Service will be held at 4:00 PM. Interment will be private.
