Ryoko Moody Obituary

Ryoko Moody, 89, of Middletown, departed this life peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on the evening of September 25, 2025. She was born in Miyazaki, Japan, where she met the love of her life, Wardell Moody, while he was serving in the military. They later married and built a beautiful life together. Ryoko was a devoted member of Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church, where her faith and quiet strength touched many. She was known for her kindness, grace, and the deep love she carried for her family. She leaves to cherish her memory: a son, Reginald L. Moody, and a daughter, Alicia Moody-Brown, both of Middletown; eight grandchildren: QuaTema Fountain (Cephas), Dennie Cherry, Sabrina McDaniel, ShaRhonda Cherry, Ashley Peterson, Marques Moody, Nisheena Bell (Jerry), and Brandon Peterson (Tanaisha); ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Ryoko was predeceased by her beloved husband, Wardell Moody, her daughter, Shirley A. Moody, and her son-in-law, Bashaun Brown. Her legacy of love, faith, and family devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3rd at 11:00 am at Cross Street AME Zion Church, 440 West Street, Middletown. Family and friends may call Friday morning at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
