Sharon Shell Obituary

Sunday, February 2, 2025, was the unexpected passing of Sharon Yvette Shell of Avon, CT. She came into this world in Hartford, CT, on June 22, 1967, to the late Dorothy Brown (nee Shell), the woman she dedicated her life to and the late George "Pink Panther" Dixon.
After graduating from Weaver High School, Sharon dove headfirst into the workforce, thanks to her intelligence and strong work ethic. She started as a Residential Counselor at CREC Polaris Center, then at Gray Lodge Shelter for Women, and worked her way up to Supervisor at Washington Street Detention. Her most recent position was at The Arc of Farmington Valley (Favarh) where she worked as a Direct Support Professional. The work she did inspired her to be an entrepreneur, and she eventually started SYS Angel Care, a private, independent caregiving service.
Son, John Quincy Rowley (Shemika) and granddaughter, Sarai Rowley, the loves of her life will carry on Sharon's legacy. Additionally, she is survived by her brother Lebrone Sumpter (Tracy); bonus children Tyeccia, John John, and Brieanna; her great-aunt, Ruth Dixon, along with other aunts and uncles, Iwilla Peggins, Christine Dixon-Smith, Luvenia Wadlington (Eddie), Melvin Shell (Darlene), and Samuel Shell (Sara); her sister-cousin Rosalind Teresa Crumpton; her beloved cousin and traveling companion Tracy Peggins; her sister-by-heart Shyrlene Chapman; her goddaughter Ashley McGriff; special friends Valerie Hill, Julie Moquete, and Gail Smick, friend and father of her son John Rowley; and a plethora of other relatives, friends, and coworkers.
Sharon was committed to her faith in the Lord and was a member of Phillips Metropolitan CME Church. Sharon knew that with a strong belief in God anything was possible. She was known for her witty banter, boundless energy, her fun-loving and caring nature. Her passion for playing cards brought friends and family together, creating cherished memories. Her vivacious personality, infectious laughter, clever sense of humor, and steadfast love and support for those she cared about. A fan of gospel, rap, and R&B music, Sharon's vibrant personality resonated through her favorite tunes. Sharon's legacy is one of love, joy, and the importance of friends and family who will treasure her memory in their hearts and minds.
On Wednesday, February 19th, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., friends and family will be welcomed at The Lodge Community Chapel, 130 Deerfield Rd, Windsor, for a viewing and the Celebration of Life beginning at 11:30 a.m. promptly. Interment will be at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield immediately following.
