Shirley Goforth Obituary

Shirley Goforth peacefully transitioned on Wednesday July 30, 2025 at Yale New Haven Health after a courageous battle with cancer. Born August 3, 1954, Shirley attended the New Haven Public School system, graduating From Wilbur Cross High School. She was employed by YNHH for several years, and retired as a Crossing Guard for the NH School System. This employment suited her "big" personality with the students and the Community. Shirley was the proud mother of two sons; Byron Goforth (Angela Sweat), Desmond Pittman (Lynette). Grandchildren; Octavia, Byron Jr, Ava Pittman. Bonus Grands Crystal, Antonio, Jordan, and Jaiden. Great Grands; Byron III, Journey, Tymar, and Sean. Sisters Nadine G. Lewis, Martha Gant. Brothers Paul Lenair (Lynette) FL, Anthony Goforth (Tina) GA. Sister-in-law Denise M. Brantley. Several nieces, nephews, and countless lifelong friends. She was predeceased by her mother; Elizabeth Goforth, brother Timothy Brantley, and brother in-law Calvin T. Lewis.
