Steven Michaud Obituary
Steven Douglas Michaud, 66, of Bristol, loving husband, father, and proud Pépère, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his beloved family following a lengthy illness. Steve was the devoted husband of 38 years to Kathleen (Czako) Michaud.
Steve was born in New Britain, CT on June 24, 1959 son to the late Lucille (Chasse) Collin and Ronaldo Michaud. Growing up in the vibrant Forestville community, his early years were marked by a passion for service and camaraderie, as he proudly engaged with the Forestville Boys Club and formed lasting friendships while attending Bristol Eastern High School.
Following graduation, Steve's journey took him to Pratt & Whitney Aerospace Manufacturing, where he dedicated an impressive 47 years of his life as a machinist. His love for mechanics and his natural skill made him a respected figure at both the Southington and Middletown plants. Many will remember him as a motorhead, whose enthusiasm for all things mechanically reflected his hands-on approach to life and work. He was not just a craftsman; he was a creator, leaving a legacy of precision and dedication that spanned nearly five decades.
Steve's commitment to his profession was evident in the countless hours he put into his career. Known for his tireless work ethic, he welcomed every opportunity for overtime and beyond his primary vocation, he discovered a passion for tree removal services. With his keen eye for detail and a strong sense of responsibility, he quickly became a trusted figure in the community. His customers were not just clients; they became lifelong friends who appreciated not only his skill but also his genuine kindness and approachability.
A true lover of all animals and wildlife, Steve had a special fondness for raccoons, finding joy in their playful antics and resilience. His appreciation for the beauty of nature was evident in everything he did, and he shared this love with those around him.
Above all, Steve's greatest joy came from his family. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to caring for his loved ones and his role as a two-time Pépère brought him unmatched happiness. He poured his heart and soul into every moment spent with his wife, their three beautiful daughters, along with their spouses, and his cherished grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Kathleen Michaud, of Bristol, Steve is survived by his three children, Krystina Johner, of North Carolina, Ashley Rossi and her husband, John, of Texas, and Stephanie Meccariello and her husband, Jeremy, of Ohio; his grandchildren, Niko and Stella; his sister, Bette Cassina and her husband, Daniel, of South Carolina; his sister, Nancy Truskoski, of Connecticut; his brother, Brian Michaud and his wife, Marlo, of Tennessee; and his sister, Carol DeFeo and her husband, Michael, of Massachusetts; his sister-in-law, Tola Michaud, of Texas; and several extended family members, along with a large circle of friends. Steve was predeceased by his parents, Lucille Collin and Ronaldo Michaud, and his brothers, Jeffrey Michaud and Gerald Michaud.
