Theodore Sapoznik

Theodore "Ted" Sapoznik, 91, of Windsor Locks crossed the finish line Tuesday (April 29, 2025). He was born in New York, New York February 11, 1934 to Mark and Rose (Gladysz) Sapoznik. He graduated from Putnam Technical School and had a long and successful career in aviation maintenance including the operation of Sapoznik Aviation at Ellington airport with his brother Bob. Ted not only found great joy in caring and providing for his family but also the whole neighborhood. If there was ever a neighbor in need, he was "the Man" day or night; a Man of great knowledge and kindness. He loved watching, coaching and playing baseball and was even invited to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals after his senior year in high school. He cherished his time fishing on a quiet lake or gentle stream. In his later years he excelled in his retirement hobby shooting sporting clays. He traveled all over the country to participate in all the major National competitions. He won many events and made the All-American Team of the National Sporting Clays Association as a Super Senior Class shooter. He also enjoyed watching Uconn men and womens basketball. There were occasions when he seriously considered calling Geno or Jim Calhoun to give them some advice. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years Shirley (Colombi) Sapoznik, his three sons, Andrew Sapoznik of Windsor Locks, John Sapoznik and his wife Debbie of Enfield, and Theodore E. Sapoznik and his wife Mary of Vancouver, WA; his brother James "Bob" Sapoznik of Ashford; his sisters-in-law, Lois Marcinek of Windsor Locks and Joyce Sapoznik of Naples, FL; his grandchildren April Sapoznik, Christopher (Alissa) Sapoznik, Michael (Marie) Sapoznik, and Kathryn (Trent) Fuhrmann; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 12th at 10:00 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Windsor Locks, followed by burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mary, Gate of Heaven Parish, 42 Spring Street, Windsor Locks, CT 06096.
