Thomas Kevin Petano

Thomas Kevin Petano, 63, of Newington, passed away suddenly at home August 7, 2025. Born in Hartford in 1962 to the late Richard J. and May (Hayes) Petano. Tommy leaves his loving wife of 30 years Bryarly Whiston Petano, daughter Angela and son Anthony, who were the pride and joy of his life, and his 3 older brothers, Jim Petano and Lisa, David Petano and Sandy, Rick Petano and Jana. Also, his Aunts Dott Wild and D-J Hayes-Thurston and first cousins Roberta, Barbara, Bonnie, Suzie, Sean, Margo, and Brian. Nieces and nephews Michelle, Sarah, William, Bethany, Justin, Terry, Brynn, Cole, Nick Justin, Merrill, Joseph, Alyssa, Ryan, Colin, and Alex. His brothers-in-law Merrill Whiston and Julie, Shawn Whiston and Allison, and Nick Chiesa. He is predeceased by his sister-in-law Lisa Chiesa and his brother-in-law Jay Whiston. A Farmington native, Tom worked 40+ years as a master carpenter, house builder and remodeler. His awesome building skills led him to be reigning "Nail-driving Champion" at the Berlin Fair for many years. A lifelong Van Halen fan, his "MTV Tommy" persona was a crowd favorite at the Stonewell karaoke night. Tommy was a family man who loved time spent on Nantucket Island, first as a boy on family vacations, and later many trips with Bryarly and kids surf-fishing on Great Point. He loved beach time in Charleston, the sand and sunsets, NASCAR races, antique car shows, and hunting in VT. All now cherished memories of our time with Tommy/Dad. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, August 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, August 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 183 Church St., Newington.
