Victor DeFelice Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Victor M. DeFelice, 88, of Branford, who entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 22, 2025. He was the loving husband of Joanne Laudano DeFelice for 63 years. He is survived by his devoted daughter Therese, son in law Mark Kowalski, and his beloved grandsons, Mark and Matthew. He was predeceased by his brother, John (Jack) and his son, Victor Jr. Vic was the son of the late Victor J. and Mary Ferretti DeFelice and grew up in West Haven, around the corner from Savin Rock, enjoying a colorful and wonderful childhood. He attended Boardman Trade School and Chicago Technical College for Construction Management. He was a building contractor all his life, owning Pancom Developers, Connecticut Builders and V.M. DeFelice Construction Inc. Later in life he was a construction manager and a consultant for several area construction companies. He lived a life of dedication to his family with his greatest joy being his cherished grandsons. He adored and showered them with immeasurable love, life wisdom, guidance, and a remarkable way to lift the spirit with encouraging words when needed. He loved spending colder months in Sarasota, Florida and spending the warmer weather on his boat at the Branford marina teaching his grandsons how to fish and captain the boat. He was always there for his family and friends, and to say he will be missed is truly an understatement. Family and friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 6 at 11:00 at St. Vincent DePaul Church of St. Pio Parish in East Haven. As per his request, there will be no calling hours, and the burial will be private. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford is in care of arrangements.

Earlier today

Dear Mrs. D, Therese and family, my condolences for your loss. Vic was an amazing man and influential in my life. My father worked for him and he unexpectedly died when I just turned 17. I lost my mom a few years before that. Your dad helped my grandparents with his funeral and other expenses and he helped me get on the right track in life. My grandparents couldn't believe what he did for our family. I was that lanky kid who showed up on Main Street for dinner a few times when you and your brother were young enjoying your mom's cooking. Long story short, your dad gave me a job and even helped me start my own business when my grandparents and I were moving down south. He gave me the confidence and guidance a lost kid needed and I will always be thankful to him. I saw him last about ten years ago visiting family here and after a great chat he had to run home because your kids would be walking to his house from St. Mary's and your mom wasn't home. He loved his family and he was so happy when talking about your kids and how much joy they gave him. He said he didn't want to be that kind of grandfather but here he was going on he said because he sure waited long enough for them as he smiled before leaving. He was a rare gem, and you were all blessed to have one another. May he rest in peace and pray time soothes the loss.

To the best father and grandfather, you taught us so much except how to live without you. Every time we seen you, your face lit up. You were generous with your time, love and affection and we will never forget you. Don't worry about Nana, we will take good care of her and mom, too. You said you will always watch over us, and we believe that, because you were a man of your word. Rest in peace Poppy, you were one of a kind and we will miss you terribly, till we meet again.
